At a Sustainable Finance and Investment Symposium, the Global Environmental Institute in China (GEI) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) gathered with representatives from public interest groups, researchers, and consultants, to discuss the promotion of sustainable finance and investment. More specifically, the option of setting up an environmental database to promote green decision making was presented, as well as the Aarhus Convention, an international treaty on the disclosure of environmental information. The Convention can be seen as an important reference for the development of sustainable finance and investment for China, whose current environmental disclosure system is based on voluntary disclosure and relatively low quantity and quality of information.
