The company that is operating heli-skiing on two mountaintops in Lech, Austria recently requested an extension of its special permit for the activity. While governor Karlheinz Rüdisser signalled that the permit would likely be extended, Austria’s conservationists are protesting. The Alp association’s representative stated that they are currently discussing whether they should refer the case to the so-called Aarhus Convention or rather hand it over to the regional ombudsman.
