Aarhus Centre representatives from seven countries plan progress in Riga

Date published:

The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has issued an invitation to delegates at the third Meeting of the Parties to an event on Aarhus Centres, where representatives from countries served by the Centres will gather to discuss the Centres future development.  Aarhus Centres conduct outreach and provide trainings on the Aarhus Convention.

Mr Dmytro Skrylnikov, Indendent Evaluator for the OSCE Aarhus Centres, will present findings on a field investigation of their operation and provide recommendations on how the Centres can be sustained over time.

Through the support of the OSCE, often working in partnership with national ministries of natural resources and environmental protection or through the support of non-governmental organizations, the Centres have been opened in seven countries of southern and eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

The event will be held on Wednesday, 11 June 2008, from 13.15 to 14.45 pm in the Alfa Room, Reval Hotel Latvija, in Riga.
