UNECE has worked with UNEP/GRID-Arendal to (hopefully!) make the Clearinghouse's Content Management System (CMS) easy to use. This page presents some tips on how to use the CMS, especially if it's your first time using it.
GENERAL GUIDANCE
Language. The general elements of the CMS interface, such as common CMS terminology (e.g., Add/Update/Search/etc.), are available in most languages. Clearinghouse-specific translations, including categories and other metadata, are available in English and (almost fully) in Russian. Your language preference should be detected automatically. Currently this CMS Help page is available only in English. Sorry about that.
PERMISSIONS AND PUBLISHING
Who can publish. There are a few different types of permissions in the CMS. While everyone can enter resources, content approval and publishing are handled by Clearinghouse editors. If that seems cumbersome, we're sorry. Feel free to share your feedback with the administrators at UNECE.
RESOURCE ENTRIES
Editorial workflow. In order for a resource to appear on the live site, two things must happen. First, the item must have the "Approved" Review Status (at the top of every resource entry editing screen). Second, the checkbox at the very bottom of the resource entry screen (referring to sharing) must be checked.
Jurisprudence case studies. To enter a jurisprudence case study, use the Start Date field to record a decision date. Then use the Custom Fields section at the bottom of the resource entry screen to record information such as Court/Body, Internal Reference, and Key Topic.
NEWS ARTICLES
Item type. When you create a news article, for the Item Type you should always choose "News Article" rather than "Press Release." Currently, mainly news articles appear on the Clearinghouse site; press releases are reserved for other uses.
