Ecolur: Public hearing “illegal”

On July 24, the Nature Protection Ministry displayed on its website an announcement about holding public hearings on the project “Khachaghbyur-2”. The meeting was scheduled for the same day, at noon in Yenoqavan Village, 140 kilometers from Yerevan.

“We wonder how the Ministry staff can imagine that stakeholders can get familiar with the documents (which are not displayed on the website), to make an opinion and to get to Yenoqavan so as to make public hearings participants aware of this opinion,” ask activists.

The “Trchkan” Civic Initiative says the ministry violated the requirements set by the Aarhus Convention on access to Information and ensuring public participation in decision-making process.
