European ECO Forum will bring environmental non-governmental organizations from across Europe to Geneva for a training on Aarhus Convention Compliance Mechanism, on 27 - 30 November 2007.
The training aims at raising NGO capacity to strategically use Aarhus Convention compliance mechanism. The training will address major issues related to the Aarhus Convention compliance mechanism, including Compliance Committee procedures, Committee's case-law, experience of applicants.
The Convention's compliance mechanism allows communications from the public to be reviewed by the Compliance Committee, as one avenue for raising concerns over potential non-compliance by Parties to the treaty.
