Russia: a well-known environmental activist was brutally beaten

Living Asia reports that on 28 December 2017 activists of the Russian NGO Ecological Watch for the North Caucasus (EVSC) were attacked. The coordinator of this organization, Mr. Andrei Rudomakha, was brutally beaten right after filming illegal construction under city Gelendzhik. He is in the hospital after receiving numerous injuries. His colleague, Mr. Victor Chirikov, was kicked in the stomach. Their backpacks with equipment, documents, computers, photo and video cameras were stolen from the car. Ecoforum of Kazakhstan has launched a petition to the Government of the Russian Federation to carry out an independent investigation of the attack.
