The Venetian architect Fernando De Simone is trying to raise awareness about the risks relating to the LPG system to be built in Chioggi, Italy. He has developed a simulation of the area at risk in the event of accidents, sabotage or terrorist attacks in order to show the devastating consequencesit could have on the surroundings. Some houses are located not more than 300 metres away from the plant and local residents have repeatedly complained that they were not involved in the decision-making process. This is a clear violation of the Aarhus Convention, which stipulates the right of citizens to take part in the decision-making processes in environmental matters. In his opinion, the mayor could request suspension of the work based on the violations of the Convention.
