Date published:

Freedom of information laws around the world made headlines over the past year on subjects ranging from public safety to corruption to human rights, according to the annual Review of Openness News, published to mark the 2nd Annual International Right to Know Day. The Review highlights stories from around the world based on records released through the access laws.  It is available on www.freedominfo.org.

International Freedom of Information Day was established by the Freedom of Information Advocates Network. Advocates in two dozen countries mounted coordinated activities such as conferences, awards, release of studies, and workshops on 28 September 2004.

The Freedom of Information Network is based in Budapest and Sofia. For more information, see www.foiadvocates.net and www.righttoknowday.net.
