The overall objective of the event is to raise public awareness on environmental issues of Shuchinsk-Burabay resort area, improve collaboration with local government authorities and civil society organizations on environmental security, increasing the attractiveness of the region as a center of international tourism and object of EXPO-2017, introduction of "green" technologies and rights of local population to access to information and decision making during the construction of building facilities in preparation for EXPO-2017.
The activity forms an integral part of the Centre's activities in implementation of the Aarhus Convention and reflects the OSCE strategy for achieving adequate environmental security at the national and regional levels, the press service of the OSCE Centre in Astana reports.
