Elaboration of a model for creation and operation of national PRTR is launched in Georgia

The initiative, "Strengthening Capacities for Designing a National Pollutant Release and Transfer Register [PRTR] and Supporting SAICM Implementation in Georgia", is being implemented by the Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN) in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources with the technical support of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). It aimsto develop a PRTR system, which will serve as a model for the creation of a Georgian Pollutant Release and Transfer Register; and to raise awareness among the various concerned parties regarding the PRTR and the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM).

Georgia is a Signatory to the Kiev Protocol on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers to the UNECE Aarhus Convention.
