The Federal Council of Austria discussed the extensive administrative reform package of the Ministry of Environment yesterday, which aims at simplifying procedures. The Administrative Act includes reforms in areas such as EIA, climate protection, water management, animal farming and federal gardens. The main focus of today’s discussion was the deregulation of measures in EIA and water law. One member of the Council criticized in particular the lack of access to ordinary judicial proceedings for individuals which is provided for under the Aarhus Convention.
